1. RID-IT Summer Training Goals
The strategy of RID-IT Labs is to improve the quality of research through providing the
leading research facilities and professional training to the young and energetic researchers
which enable them to pursue world-level applied research and development work based on
creative ideas and innovation.
RID-IT summer training aims to train, support, and assist students to discover their career goals. Also,
it aims to help students to discover their interpersonal skills. Also, RID-IT will hire several
outstanding candidates after the summer training to work at RID as a full-time or part-time. The main
themes of RID-IT summer training are learning new subjects, utilizing summer time, and discovering
career jobs.
Throughout RID labs, many university programs will be opened to train and teach undergraduate and
graduate students to practice and apply what they learned. RID labs aim to pen channels between
industry and academia.
The RID-IT summer training consists of two parts: summer training courses and summer
training fields.
1.1. RID-IT Summer Training Courses
- All trainers will take the following courses:
- How to write a research paper? Learn Latex?
- How to write a patent application?
- Linear Algebra and Discrete Mathematics.
- Programming and simulation in Matlab.
- Scientific English and English conversation.
- Pulbic Seminars: Time Management, Leadership Skills, Community Services, and RID-IT goals.
1.2. RID-IT Summer Training Fields
A candidate will choose one of the following fields to do a project in. Training in one of the following
areas:
- Web Development and Web Design
- English Conversation, Writing and Language Communication
- Mobile communication, Android, Internet applications
- Software Engineering and Programming Languages
- Business Develop and Electronic Commerce
- Sensor devices and electronics
- Image Processing and Computer Vision
- Graphics and Multimedia and Marketing.
- Graduation project support and ideas.
- Bio-informatics and Bio-technology.
2. RID-IT Summer Training Courses
All trainers will take the following courses:
2.1. How to write a research paper? Learn Latex?
- Scientific paper goals.
- Document preparation system.
- Paper structure.
- Learn Latex and format your document.
How to write a patent application?
If you have an invention, and want to protect it, you should summit a patent to protect your rights. In
this case, this lecture will help you.
2.3. Linear Algebra and Discrete Mathematics
In these lectures, you will learn an introduction to linear algebra and discrete mathematics.
2.4. Programming and simulation in Matlab
The aim of this lecture is to introduce the elements and practicalities of computer programming
through the MATLAB mathematical computing environment. At the end of this lecture, students
should be confident about using MATLAB in their own project work.
2.5. Scientific English
The aim of this lecture is to help the students to read scientific text, write technical papers, and
increasing their technical and general vocabularies.
2.6. Seminars: Time Management, Leadership Skills, Community Services, RIDIT
goals.
We will provide several self-improvement seminars to help students utilize their time and resources. Also, we
will provide a seminar about leadership management and community services.
3.1. Web Development and Web Design
The candidate will do a real project to benefit or develop something innovative and applicable to job
markets.
- HTML and CSS.
- Java Script, Photoshop and Flash.
- ASP or JSP or Php.NET.
3.2. English Conversation, Writing and Language Communication
In this training, the candidate will learn everyday practical English for daily life and travel. Our
dynamic, interactive classes will help all candidates to develop them speaking, listening, reading and
writing skills, and to improve them vocabulary and grammar.
3.3. Mobile communication, Android, Internet applications
The candidate will learn GSM, GPRS and UMTS or learn programming over android mobiles,
according to the candidate’s decision.
The lab aims to study communication and networking problems in Egypt’s network infrastructures.
The lab theme is to investigate several research problems in
- Network security and protection
- Wireless communications
- Internet applications based on mobile devices
We plan to provide test-beds and implementation for our strategies in real cases in cloud networks.
Furthermore, we plan to compare performance of the proposed protocols with the known ones that are
used for authentication, verifications, and signatures.
3.4. Software Engineering and Programming Languages
Do you want to learn programming? We in RID-IT labs will help you to learn programming with the
latest and most advanced programs that will suitable for market mechanisms, and ongoing changes in
the concepts of the information systems and software.
3.5. Business Develop and Electronic Commerce
The candidate will be able to develop his own business and market his product through the internet.
3.6. Sensor devices and electronics
This training will cover sensor devices hardware, electronics I, II and Android sensor programming.
We produce sensor devices to be able to sense temperature, humidity, unauthorized gases, face
detection, face recognition and human detection. Sensors devices are the heart of any wireless sensor
network. Wireless sensor networks can be used to solve traffic problem in Egypt and in agriculture
applications, also it can be used to protect public enterprises as the Egyptian museum and private
enterprises as cars from firing and looting.
3.7. Image Processing and Computer Vision
This course introduces fundamental concepts and techniques for image processing and computer
vision. We will cover how to efficiently represent and process image signals, and how to deliver image
signals over networks.
Traffic congestion and its accompanying delays are a fact of life not only in the great Cairo, but also in all
Egyptian governorates, and this is evident in every morning and evening in rush hours. Congestion prevents
streamlining traffic in an efficient manner, as well as it is complicated, sophisticated and multi-dimensional, its
effects and impacts are widely destructive and lead to great failures:
- Wasting time of motorists and passengers.
- Delays, which may result in late arrival for employment, meetings, and education, resulting in lost
- business, disciplinary action or other personal losses.
- Wasted fuel increasing air pollution and carbon dioxide emissions owing to increased idling, acceleration and braking.
3.8. Graduation projects support and Ideas
We in RID-IT labs will help students to choose ideas for graduation project; also we will help students
to get the required hardware, and will support them with software solutions. We will help them to
acquire the knowledge required for the project. Finally if the project needs to be funded and marketed,
we will support this.
3.9. Graphics, multimedia, and marketing
The candidate will be familiar with graphics programs like Photoshop, AutoCAD (2D) and (3D), 3D
Max, and Revit 2012.
3.10. Bio-information and biotechnology
The general objective of the course is to provide the knowledge of the fields of bioinformatics. The
focus of this training will not only be on the theoretical aspects of the fields. After this training you
will be able to do a practical project in this field.
The purpose of this training field is to apply bioinformatics and biotechnology solutions to improve
life style and solve several social problems in Egypt.
Virtual reality-based therapy is one of the most innovative and developments in rehabilitation
technology. Virtual reality is the use of interactive simulations created with computer hardware and
software to present users with opportunities to engage in environments that appear to be and feel
similar to real world objects and events. The purpose of this study is to examine the effects
of VR on development and improvement of normal and accurate postural control in cerebral
palsied children.
4. RID-IT Research Environment and Innovation
RID-IT will organize the first summer research camp (conference) in Egypt to gather undergraduate
and graduate students. The goal of this summer camp is to expose students to new research areas and
subjects.
A number of the award programs will be specifically designed to facilitate the students’ research
collaborations. Research Awards provide students with opportunities to work closely in research
situations with each other.
4.1. Summer Research Workshops and Weekly Seminars
We will organize weekly seminars to expose candidates for new research topics.
4.2. Summer Research Camp
We will organize a summer research camp and conference.
